Converse's Auckland Modern: The Hip Sneaker No One Has

When people think of Converse the first thing that pops into everyone's mind is the Chuck Taylor All Star, secondly the Jack Purcell. Recently I learned about another Converse sneaker the Auckland.

Introduced at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics (how topical!), this style has been around for over three decades and to my knowledge completely under the radar. Marketed as a running shoe the Auckland was introduced by Converse after running took off as a fitness hobby in the early 80s. A trivia tidbit for you: recreational running was started in Auckland, New Zealand (I see what you did there Converse).

A few weeks ago Converse released a new look for the Auckland, the Auckland Modern. And while I don't look to Converse for a reliable pair of running shoes, I need these right now. This is a case of style over function.

I'm calling it right now: this shoe will be the alternative to the Nike Flyknits that everyone and their mom is wearing. It has the same great style but for now you'll be sporting the look all by yourself. I can already picture the black / white pair worn with my distressed black jeans and striped J.Crew tee for my days around town. I think that qualifies it as a well thought out purchase right!? I agree.

Ritz Paris Is Back - And More Oppulent than Ever

I am not one who believes you need a reason to visit Paris... because it's Paris! But for those of you who need some enticing the Ritz Paris has officially reopened its doors! The hotel shuttered in August 2012 to undergo a $450 million renovation. Now four years later the famed hotel is back in business and taking reservations.

The former home of Coco Chanel has returned with all its ritzy, decadent glory. Book a stay in the namesake suite at the hotel of the late fashion designer, starting at a cool €25,000 a night. (Yikes!)

But don't fret! Not all the suites will cost you the price of a new car. Rooms start at €1,400... which yes is a ridiculous amount of money for a hotel room. For the 99% the Ritz Paris would be a huge, massive, save for years splurge and most likely a once in a life time stay. But isn't that what life is for?!

I'll start stacking my pennies now and hopefully be there in the next five years. I'll probably dedicate two or three days of my Parisian adventure to exploring the hotel and spending hours on end in the parlor, bar and swimming pool. Who knows maybe Mom will get lucky for her 60th birthday. For that much money you better see every square inch.

Here's to big ritzy dreams! Check out the Ritz website for more images of the magnificent rooms. Take a peak and try to convince me you haven't added it to your bucket list. Au revoir!

I could spend all day in here.
I don't fancy tea, but I would suffer it to spend an afternoon in the parlor.
They might never get me to leave.

Inspiration for a Colorful Summer: Moschino Resort 2017

Summer is finally in full swing here in Chicago! Hell, at this point summer is probably half over for us, but I won't dwell on that thought. Time to seize the moment and get outside! Chicagoans embrace every opportunity to get outside while the weather permits; it's the only way to stay sane during 8 month-long winters.

During the winter months I live in moncromatic colors: black, white, grey. And repeat. Even on the weekends I don't steer too far from ripped black jeans and a neutral solid t-shirt. Now that summer is here I need to put the head-to-toe black outfits on pause.

Moschino hosted their 2017 Resort show in L.A. a few weeks ago and the catwalk exploded with bright colors and retro patterns. I am especially loving the head to toe patterns. The striped bellbottoms with contrasting cropped top is hands down my favorite look. I would definitely throw that on for rooftop drinks on the weekend.

As my closet is currently filled with J.Crew striped tees and a few pairs of patterned pants I'm going to have to get creative with how I pair items. But thanks to Moschino I've got some inspiration on where to start.

Now please excuse me while I change out of my black slacks and grey sweater (yep still wear sweaters in June here).

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Doing Summer Right in PAIGE

Apparently it wasn't just my food consumption and fitness that suffered during the holiday months, my blog completely fell by the wayside. Luckily there have been lots of pretty images making their way into my inbox lately and I now have lots I want to share!

To start: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for PAIGE's summer '16 campaign. I could spend my entire summer in Paige pieces and be oh so happy.

I should first disclose that I've had a girl-crush on RHW since she was in Transformers: Dark of the Moon (the first three Transformers movies are a huge guilty pleasure of mine). I then found out she models for Burberry and is recently engaged to Jason Statham. Basically I want to be her. And now she stars in PAIGE campaigns and my envy grows.

Ever since my massive closet purge last January, my style has found it's center. And that center is neutrals. Most days you'll find me in a mix of black, grey or white. So this summer collection from PAIGE is right up my alley. Some might assume the lack of color is boring but as you can see from the images below, neutrals are anything but boring. Plus I save time getting dressed and packing for trips is a breeze!

I'm not usually one for a bohemian look, but the campaign images are a great inspiration for summer pairings with light layers. And that first image... I need every piece. I want to spend every day in that knit top. Check out additional images and shop the campaign at PAIGE.

Festive Arm Candy from Kate Spade

The holidays are upon us! In the next month it is your duty to wear each glittery, sparkly, and jazzy piece of clothing you own. Because you can! And why stop there? Make sure your entire outfit is on point by adding a festive purse. Enter Kate Spade.

Kate Spade is the place to go for trendy festive pieces, with a little bit of cheek. Below are my favorite clutches from the current line. Make no mistake, anyone carrying that champagne bottle is the life of the party. And the camera? Perfect for the wannabe-hipster-diva. I'm not sure if that is a thing, but some days I would like to label myself that.

Take a look and have some fun... Tis the season to celebrate!
